Mike Pompeo, the US Secretary of State slammed China on October 30, and criticized the Chinese Communist Party for engaging in policies that are antagonistic to the US Interest. Mike Pompeo further lashed out at the American administrations such as Richard Nixon who have worked previously with the US government for maintaining relations with Beijing despite the differences in the political systems of the US and China. He reflected on their ignorance of seeking change in spite of China’s authoritarianism.
Mike Pompeo lashed at China
Mike Pompeo’s harsh remarks about China are second in a row from a senior Trump administration within a week. Before Pompeo, Vice President Mike Pence also criticized China and its policies. These remarks come amid the partial trade deal that China and the US look forward to. Pompeo during the speech he delivered at the conservative Hudson Institute in New York, he said that it is not wise to oversee the fundamental difference in the policy-making of both the systems and the effect they have on US politics. Keeping a very strong front Pompeo said that China should be confronted on various issues which include its human rights record, its trade practices and its approach towards Taiwan and the South China Sea.
We accommodated China’s rise, in the hope that they would become more free. In response, the CCP took advantage of our goodwill. Now, @realDonaldTrump is facing the reality of CCP hostility to the U.S. and our values. We must engage China as it is, not as we wish it to be. pic.twitter.com/MSGxlBex51

Pompeo criticized previous Presidents for lack of understanding
He also held liable the previous Presidents, their advisers, analysts, and historians who were well versed in the risks of accommodating Beijing. He said that the wrongs will be made right under President Trump’s administration. He said that the government officials were incapable of predicting the threats China impose on US national security. He further said that in order to maintain friendly relations with the People’s Republic, America continued to support and encourage China even at the expense of American values, and security, and good sense.
