New York Governor Andrew Cuomo said he can envision baseball games being played without fans this summer at Yankee Stadium and the Mets' Citi Field.

During his regular media briefing on Sunday, Cuomo said he has spoken with owners of professional sports teams - he did not identify which ones - and that they would have to try and make the economics work with only broadcast revenue and not ticket sales.

"Be creative. Try to figure it out," the Democrat said during his briefing Sunday. "But if players could get paid more than staying home and owners would get some revenue versus total shutdown, why not? I'd love to watch."

Taiwan's CPBL baseball league has begin its season without fans while South Korea's KBO is playing practice games behind closed doors ahead of its planned opening day on May 5th.

Cuomo wasn't sure if the same formula would work for the idled NBA, but said it was worth trying.

"Everybody has to think outside the box, right? Because there is no box", he said.
