Fire engulfs Kochi shopping complex, one feared trapped inside

Kochi: A multi-storey shopping complex near Kochi became engulfed in flames on Friday, with authorities suspecting at least one person to be trapped inside, according to the police in Angamally.

The fire, detected in the evening, prompted a swift response from seven fire units from nearby stations. Despite efforts to control the blaze, the intensity of the fire remains a challenge for the firefighting teams.

"Nearby buildings are safe. We have almost extinguished the fire. But we are yet to enter the building. One person is suspected to be inside," informed the police.

The three-storey shopping complex, hosting various offices, has been severely affected by the fire, heightening concerns about the trapped individual's safety. As of now, the reason behind the fire is yet to be determined, and investigations are underway.
