Citroen Basalt Scores Four-Star Safety Rating in BNCAP Crash Tests

The newly launched Citroen Basalt coupe SUV has received a four-star safety rating in the Bharat NCAP (BNCAP) crash tests, making it the first Citroen model in India to be evaluated under the program. Both manual and the automatic gearbox versions of the vehicle were included in the test. 

Four-Star Rating for Both Adult and Child Occupants

The Citroen Basalt achieved an adult protection score of 26.19 out of 32 and a child protection score of 35.90 out of 49, earning it a solid four-star rating in both categories. 

Tested Variants and Specifications

The variants tested include the "You" and "Plus" for the naturally aspirated petrol versions, and the "Plus" and "Max" guises for the turbo-petrol versions. Both manual and the automatic gearbox versions of the vehicle were included in the test. The Citroen Basalt is powered by a 1.2-litre, three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine producing 109 bhp, with torque figures of 190 Nm for the manual and 205 Nm for the automatic version.

Safety Features and Impact Test Results

The BNCAP tests rated the Basalt’s side movable impact and pole impact results for adult occupants as "Good," while front collision tests ranged from "Marginal" to "Adequate." The Basalt is equipped with 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, ESP, hill-hold, 3-point seatbelts for all passengers, and rear parking sensors, all as standard across its variants.
