Tata Motors recently added the Nexon i-CNG lineup. It mainly rivals the Brezza CNG in the sub-4m compact SUV segment and is the first turbo petrol CNG SUV.
Tata Motors vs Maruti Suzuki : Tata Motors recently added Nexon to its CNG lineup. It is the first turbocharged petrol car to come with a CNG option in India. There is a surge in the demand for CNG vehicles in India since these vehicles provide better fuel efficiency and low running costs. Earlier, the sub-4m compact SUV segment only had Maruti Suzuki Brezza in the CNG variant but now the competition has intensified with the entry of Nexon i-CNG. The Nexon i-CNG comes with a dual-cylinder technology whereas Brezza CNG continues to offer single-cylinder technology. Here is a comparison of the price and specifications of these CNG cars:
Nexon i-CNG vs Brezza CNG: Price and variants
In India, Tata Motors launched the Nexon i-CNG at Rs 8.99 lakh (ex-showroom) for the Smart variant. It is available in eight variants and comes with dual-cylinder technology in the segment. On the other hand, the Maruti Suzuki Brezza CNG starts at Rs 9.29 lakh (ex-showroom) for the LXI variant. It is available in four variants.
Nexon i-CNG vs Brezza CNG: Features
The Nexon i-CNG comes with a host of utilitarian features. For starters, the Nexon i-CNG offers a panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats, a 10.25-inch screen for infotainment and instrument cluster, etc. On the other hand, the Maruti Suzuki Brezza offers a regular sunroof, a 9-inch infotainment system, and an analogue instrument cluster.
Nexon i-CNG vs Brezza CNG: Design and dimensions
The length is almost similar of both SUVs, but the Brezza has a better height of 1,685mm and wheelbase of 2,500mm on offer and the Nexon has a wider cabin, having 1,811mm width. Both the SUVs are equipped with 16-inch wheels on offer in their lower trims.
Nexon i-CNG vs Brezza CNG: Engine specifications
In terms of engine specifications, the Brezza CNG is powered by a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, that churns out 87 BHP and 121 Nm torque, mated to a five-speed manual transmission. On the other hand, the Nexon i-CNG is powered by a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine, which churns out 100 BHP and 170 Nm torque, mated to a six-speed manual transmission with an additional sports driving mode on offer.
Nexon i-CNG vs Brezza CNG: Conclusion
The Nexon i-CNG and the Brezza CNG are strong competitors in the sub-4m compact SUV segment. Both the SUVs offer a comprehensive set of features. Though both the Nexon i-CNG and the Brezza CNG have their own sets of pros and cons, in terms of boot space practicality, Nexon i-CNG is a better option.
