Tata Motors has unveiled the initial teasers for the forthcoming facelifts of the Harrier and Safari SUVs, both of which are anticipated to be available for purchase in the upcoming weeks. Bookings for these updated SUVs are set to commence on October 6.

Spy shots of these vehicles, spotted during testing across the country, align with the teasers released. Notable changes include a completely redesigned front fascia and various other tweaks. The Safari facelift showcases a reprofiled front bumper and a slightly wider grille, while both models retain the split headlamp setup.

The upper LED Daytime Running Light (DRL) now transforms into a full-length lightbar that extends across the width of the SUVs, with the headlamp cluster positioned vertically for a more sharply designed appearance. The grille, with horizontal slats and a contrast piano black finish, adds to the refreshed look. Interestingly, the teaser video for the Harrier does not reveal specific styling updates, apart from the horizontally positioned connected lightbar, suggesting that it might have a slightly different front-end design compared to the updated Safari.

While both SUVs won't see major changes in their profiles, minor cosmetic design updates are expected, along with new alloy wheel designs and exterior paint shade options. At the rear, the taillamp cluster will sport a sharper design and a connected lightbar on both the Safari and Harrier facelifts, along with minor alterations to the rear bumper and tailgate.

Powertrain

Both SUVs will continue to be powered by the 2.0-litre diesel engine, paired with either a six-speed manual or a six-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. These powertrains have already been updated to comply with BS6 Stage II emissions norms, and no further changes are expected in this regard with the upcoming facelifts. Tata Motors is also working on introducing petrol and electric powertrain options for these SUVs, although those are still in development and won't be available in the near future.
