Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced on Wednesday that Vande Bharat trains will be manufactured in Haryana's Sonipat and Maharashtra's Latur. Referring to the Union Budget 2023 presented in Parliament, Vaishnaw said, "Now, apart from ICF Chennai, Vande Bharat trains will be manufactured in Haryana's Sonipat and Maharashtra's Latur, and it will fulfill PM Modi's dream of connecting every corner with Vande Bharat trains."

The Vande Bharat Express, also referred to as Train 18, is an electric multiple-unit train run by Indian Railways that travels at a semi-high speed. The government-owned Integral Coach Factory (ICF), in Chennai, designed and manufactured it.

While presenting the Union Budget on Wednesday, the Finance Minister announced that the Indian Railways will receive a budgetary allocation of Rs 2.40 lakh crore. The allocation is more than nine times what was set aside for the 2013–14 fiscal year.

She announced Rs 75,000 crore for 100 "critical transport infrastructure projects," which is likely to help the railways' freight business in particular.
