VFS Global secures global biometric collection contract from Australian government

VFS Global will extend its services to 165 Australian Biometric Collection Centres (ABCC) across the globe, in addition to its existing locations.

Visa service provider VFS Global announced on Monday that it has been granted the contract for the worldwide biometric collection service by the Australian government. Under this agreement, VFS Global will extend its services to 165 Australian Biometric Collection Centres (ABCC) across the globe, in addition to its existing locations.

The designated regions encompass the Americas, Mekong, Middle East, North Africa, North Asia, Pacific, South Asia, and Southeast Asia. As part of the deal, VFS Global's core services will encompass biometric data collection and identity verification. They will also offer digital assistance for online visa application submissions and online payment support via the Department of Home Affairs, Australia's ImmiAccount portal.

Supplementary services

Furthermore, the company will provide supplementary services such as remote interview hosting, document and claim verification, paper digitization, and local address and document delivery.

Anthony Phillips, Director of In-Person Services and Support at the Department of Home Affairs, expressed optimism about the continued partnership with VFS Global, highlighting the company's adaptability to evolving departmental requirements. He also mentioned the anticipation of the biometrics collection programme's expansion under the new agreement.

The rollout of this programme will occur in two main phases, with 59 centres set to become operational by January 1, 2024, and the remaining centres coming online in phase 2, following the department's directives.

Jiten Vyas, Chief Commercial Officer, VFS Global, expressed pride in the global award, underscoring the company's longstanding partnership with the Department of Home Affairs, Australia, dating back to 2004. He emphasised VFS Global's aim to enhancing the experience of travelers bound for Australia worldwide.
