Elon Musk's Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), primarily known for its mostly young and male team, appeared in an interview with Fox News' Bret Baier on Thursday where Musk urged citizens to not be worried
about social security.

This was the first interview where apart from the younger members, some of DOGE's senior leadership came out of the shadows for the first time on television.

Social Security Is The Least Of Your Worries

When asked by Baier if DOGE's actions will not affect the social security benefits of citizens, Musk responded by saying, "What we’re doing will help their benefits. Legitimate people as a result of the work of DOGE will receive more Social Security, not less. I want to emphasize that. Let the record show that I said this and it will be proven out to be true."

DOGE Controversies

The rare interview primarily consisted of DOGE's efforts of defending itself amid backlash from the public over several issues such as resignations among federal officials, the effective shutdown of USAID, budget cuts from the Department of Education, among others.

America's Saviour: DOGE

While the central theme of Musk's interview was that if his team does not succeed, then neither could America, he strained on the fact that only DOGE could save America.

"If we don't do this, we're sunk," he said, adding, "unless we're successful, the ship of America will sink."

To achieve this, Musk said that he would have to cut the deficit by a trillion dollars.

He added that the government is not efficient and that there is a lot of waste and fraud. This is why he felt confident that a 15% reduction can be achieved without affecting any of the critical government services.

The interview was an attempt at fixing some of the damage from all the bad press that DOGE has been getting lately, caused by the United States President Donald Trump's attempts of cutting costs.
