Reliance Jio introduced smart home services at the 46th annual general meeting of Reliance Industries. It is a combination of modern devices that automate tasks and allow remote access, controlled via apps, remotes, switches, voice commands, or artificial intelligence. These homes integrate 5G, AI, and IoT, offering transformative changes.

The service includes home broadband that caters to 10 million customers, providing connectivity and convenience. Additionally, the Jio AirFiber initiative aims to extend its reach to an impressive 200 million homes. By combining Jio Fiber with AirFber, the network achieves the feat of having the world's fastest turnaround time, according to the company.

"With Jio Home Broadband’s ultra-low latency and service-awareness, real-time applications become accessible in every home. It will allow services like JioCloudPC to revolutionise both affordability and performance," said Kiran Thomas, president, Reliance Industries.

‘Over 80 per cent of data consumption in India happens indoors. I’m thrilled to introduce Jio Smart Home services, which are poised to redefine how we experience and manage our homes." Akash Ambani, Chairman, Reliance Jio.

Low-latency 5G connectivity is crucial for smart homes, minimizing response times for connected devices. Smart speakers become more responsive, and home security gains reactivity. A smart home is not just about convenience but also about security and peace of mind.

"Our extensive Jio Fiber service already serves 10+ million customers, with thousands getting connected each month. With Jio AirFiber, we are expanding our addressable market to 200+ million homes and other premises," Ambani added.

Energy-saving is a key factor behind smart homes. Smart thermostats like Ecobee and Nest offer features like pre-cooling or heating ahead of schedule and reducing power when unused. Lights, plugs, and appliances can be set to turn off when not in use, enhancing efficiency, reducing waste, and saving money.

"Jio is the only company that offers a complete ecosystem of connectivity, devices, support, and value-added services, ensuring nationwide availability and adoption of 5G devices. This makes Jio the undisputed leader in India’s 5G revolution," said Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani.

Jio Smart Home Services are designed to transform households into intelligent living spaces.

Jio Set-Up Box

Jio also introduced the Jio Set-Up Box, which includes features such as an e-Remote and the ability to use a smartphone as a gamepad, creating an interactive entertainment environment. With a shift from linear to interactive content, facilitated by platforms like Jio Cinema and Jio TV+, Jio continues to enhance the entertainment experience by providing a diverse and engaging array of content for users.

"The Jio Set-Top Box is a gateway to a world of entertainment, from TV channels to streaming content to large-screen games to digital apps. The Jio Smart Home app includes eRemote for the Jio Set-Top Box. You can use your smartphone as a gamepad," said Thomas.
