Tata Trust to meet today: Tata Trust is likely to meet today to deliberate over Ratan Tata's succession plan after he passed away on Wednesday night in a Mumbai hospital, according to media reports.

Ratan Tata, a visionary leader and philanthropist, was laid to rest with full state honours in Mumbai on October 10. Tata had never named a successor for himself, which placed the future of his legacy in question.

This aside, it needs to be known that every Tata's Group company operates as an independent entity under its own board of directors.

Present Management

N Chandrasekaran became the chairman of Tata Sons in 2017, and since then, he has not relinquished his post as head of the Tata Group. His last official role was that of CEO at Tata Consultancy Services ( TCS ). People value his leadership and strategy, with Chandrasekaran as head, stability is bolstered in this transitional phase.

The journey of Ratan Tata with the Tata Group has been one of exceptional success since the year 1962, when he completed his course in architecture from Cornell University. He became Chairman of Tata Sons in 1991 and soon set the Tata Group on its way toward globalisation-from listing TCS on the stock exchange to acquiring Jaguar Land Rover for Tata Motors.

Beyond business, Tata leaves behind a legacy of philanthropy. Through Tata Trusts, he successfully led many initiatives for social development in India. Since the retirement as Chairman in 2012, he was acting Chairman Emeritus of the Trusts.
