Private partners of six airports paid Rs 1,475 crore to AAI as per passenger fee till November

According to the minister, since 2019,  Airports Authority of India (AAI) has leased out six of its airports at Lucknow, Ahmedabad, Mangaluru, Jaipur, Guwahati.

Private Partners of Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Lucknow, Guwahati, Thiruvananthapuram and Mangaluru airports have paid approximately Rs 1,475 crore to Airport Authority of India as Per Passenger Fee (PPF) till November, 2023, MoS Civil Aviation Gen V.K Singh said today. While replying to a question in the Rajya Sabha, minister said that AAI has also received an amount of approximately Rs 2,767 crore from the private partners of these six airports in the form of upfront fee towards the capital expenditure incurred by AAI at these airports

According to the minister, since 2019,  Airports Authority of India (AAI) has leased out six of its airports at Lucknow, Ahmedabad, Mangaluru, Jaipur, Guwahati and Thiruvananthapuram for better operations, management and development of these airports under Public Private Partnership (PPP).

The minister also highlighted the government’s progress on building greenfield airports in India and said, “ Eight new Greenfield airports have been built and operationalised since May, 2019,” he added. He added further that the Ministry of Civil Aviation has launched the Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS) - UDAN  on 21.10.2016 to promote regional air connectivity and make air travel affordable to the masses. Under RCS-UDAN, 36 airports including 7 Greenfield Airports have been operationalised since May, 2019.
