Varanasi: In a compassionate response to the political instability in Bangladesh, Banaras Hindu University (BHU) has announced an extension of hostel accommodations for Bangladeshi students who have recently completed their courses. This decision comes as a relief for students who were initially required to vacate the hostels upon finishing their studies.
According to a press release from BHU, the university has decided to allow these students to continue residing in the hostels without incurring additional fees. SVS Raju, Coordinator of the International Centre at BHU, stated that this measure is intended to support students facing difficulties due to the ongoing situation in their home country.
"Banaras Hindu University has decided to allow Bangladeshi passout students staying on campus to continue in hostels till the situation normalizes in that country. The decision has been taken in the interest of students who have completed their studies and were mandated to vacate the hostels," the official press release read.
Raju further explained that the university's decision was motivated by the challenges students might encounter if they were forced to return to Bangladesh during the current crisis. "We have assured the students that in case they face any other difficulty during their stay on campus, the university will take necessary measures to address that. They may stay here till the situation normalizes in Bangladesh," Raju said.

Students who choose to remain in the hostels will benefit from free accommodation. However, those who are not residing in university hostels will be subject to guest charges if they opt to stay on campus.
