The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) team has nabbed a UGC-NET candidate named Nikhil from Kushinagar for questioning. Nikhil allegedly posted excerpts of the UGC-NET paper on the social messaging platform, Telegram. He had also appeared for the UGC-NET entrance exam and had been preparing for competitive exams in Kota. For the past month, Nikhil had been residing in Sidhua Sthan, Kushinagar. The interrogation of Nikhil is currently ongoing at Padrauna police station.
The UGC-NET (University Grants Commission - National Eligibility Test) is a crucial examination for determining the eligibility of Indian nationals for Assistant Professorship and Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) in Indian universities and colleges. However, the integrity of the exam came under scrutiny when allegations of paper leaks surfaced.
The investigation began when instances of leaked question papers were reported on various social media platforms, including Telegram. The leaks were a severe breach of the examination process, potentially affecting thousands of candidates who rely on the fairness and transparency of this prestigious exam for their academic and professional future.
In response, the CBI launched a thorough investigation to uncover the sources of the leaks and identify those responsible.
