UPSC CSE Mains 2024: The Union Public Service Commission ( UPSC ) will begin the civil services main exam tomorrow, September 20. The exam will be held for five days on September 20, 21, 22, 28, and 29. The exam will begin with Paper-1 Essay scheduled to be held from 9 am to 12 pm. Read on to know important exam-day guidelines, do's and don'ts, and other key instructions.

UPSC CSE Mains 2024 Exam: Key Instructions 

  • Bring the printout of the UPSC CSE main exam 2024 admit card to the exam centre, along with a valid photo ID card, whose number is mentioned in the e-admit card, in each session. 
  • Reporting Time: Enter the exam hall at least 30 minutes before the commencement of the exam. The entry gates for the morning shift exam will close at 8.30 am. 
  • Candidates who do not have clear photographs on the e-admit card will have to bring a passport-size photograph, one for each session, to appear in the examination with an Undertaking.

Things To Keep in Mind While Writing Answers

Candidates must note that they should strictly answer all parts and sub-parts of a question in the Question Cum Answer (QCA) booklet in the space provided under each question/part in the QCA booklet. Read the Instructions for Candidates printed on the QCA booklet carefully. Any infringement of the instructions in the QCA booklet might entail a penalty in the form of deduction of marks scored by the candidate and disciplinary action including cancellation & debarment from future examinations

Candidates are advised to ensure that spaces/pages remaining blank are crossed out before the QCA booklets are handed over to the Invigilator.

 Candidates are required to use the specific space, available at the designated place in the answer copy, for rough work. Copy of the admit card or any other space/sheet etc. should not be used for rough work.

Candidates for each session have to hand over their QCAB to the Invigilator after detaching the Question Paper available in detachable form at the end of the QCA Booklet, before leaving the Examination Room/Hall.
