The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) Civil Services Preliminary Examination 2024 is set to be conducted today, June 16. Aspirants from across the country will appear for this highly competitive exam, which serves as the first step in the selection process for various prestigious government positions. Here are some crucial instructions and guidelines for candidates to ensure a smooth and successful examination experience.

Reporting Time and Exam Schedule

The UPSC Civil Services Prelims comprises two papers:

  • General Studies Paper-I Exam Timing: 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM

Reporting Time For Paper 1- Latest By 9 AM

  • General Studies Paper-II (CSAT) Exam Timing: 2:30 PM to 4:30 PM

Reporting Time For Paper 2- Latest by 2 PM.

Candidates are advised to reach their respective exam centers well in advance. Entry to the examination hall will close 30 minutes before the commencement of each paper. Latecomers will not be allowed to enter.

Important Instructions

  1. Admit Card: Carry a printed copy of your admit card. Verify all details on the admit card and ensure it is free from any discrepancies.
  2. Photo ID Proof: Bring a valid original photo ID proof such as Aadhaar card, voter ID, or passport, as specified in the admit card instructions.
  3. Black Ballpoint Pen: Use only a black ballpoint pen for filling out the OMR sheets. Other types of pens or colors are not permitted.

Dress Code

  1. Comfortable Clothing: Wear light, comfortable, and non-restrictive clothing. Avoid attire with large buttons, brooches, or metallic items that might cause delays during security checks.
  2. Plain Wristwatch: Only analog watches are allowed. Digital watches, smartwatches, and any electronic devices are strictly prohibited.

  1. Review Key Notes: Use the time before the exam to go through summarized notes and important concepts.
