NEET PG 2024 To Be Held Soon, New Date To Be Announced This Week, Says NBEMS President

The new date for the National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET) PG 2024 will be announced within a week, according to Dr. Abhijat Sheth, President of the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS). The NBEMS had postponed the exam, originally scheduled for June 23, as a precautionary measure following allegations of irregularities in recent NEET, NET examinations.

Senior officials from the Ministry of Health and NBEMS recently convened to review the NEET PG exam process. Sources informed PTI that the meeting focused on assessing the robustness of the exam's conduct, with the new date to be announced based on the availability of examination centers.

Addressing the exam postponement, Dr. Sheth assured that the integrity of the NEET PG exam has always been upheld. “For the last seven years, we have conducted the exam successfully,” he told ANI. “However, due to recent events, there are widespread concerns among the student community about various exams. The government has decided to review the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and protocols to maintain the safety and security of the exams. We will announce the new date within a week.”

In response to questions about an advisory issued by the medical board regarding social media messages and warnings before the exam, Dr. Sheth stated, “We published this advisory to ensure that students stay informed and confident. We regret the last-minute postponement but assure the student community that the exam will be conducted safely and securely, maintaining its sanctity. We are working closely with the government to fulfill these promises.”

Regarding rumors about a delay in the NEET PG results until September, Dr. Sheth clarified that this information is incorrect. He mentioned that the results might be announced before September, but no specific date can be confirmed at this moment.
