The Tamil Nadu Directorate of Government Examinations has extended the application deadline for the Tamil Nadu National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship Scheme (NMMS) until December 27. Aspiring candidates can access the NMMS 2023-24 application form on the official website, dge.tn.gov.in. This scholarship examination is designed for Class 8 students enrolled in Tamil Nadu government and government-aided schools. Scheduled for February 3, 2024, the Tamil Nadu NMMS 2024 exam aims to grant successful candidates a scholarship worth Rs 12,000 per annum.

Eligible applicants must be studying in state government, government-aided, or local body schools, with a household income not exceeding Rs 3,50,000. The question paper for Tamil Nadu NMMS 2024 will be based on the syllabi of Classes 7 and 8. The examination consists of two segments: the Mental Ability Test (MAT) and the Scholastic Abilities Test (SAT). Each section comprises 90 multiple-choice questions (MCQs), with a duration of 90 minutes per paper.

The MAT evaluates students' nonverbal and verbal meta-cognitive abilities, emphasizing reasoning and critical thinking. Conversely, the SAT assesses their knowledge in science, social studies, and mathematics. The official notice emphasizes that "The final list of students verified at all concerned levels on the National Scholarship Portal will be considered for sanction of funds. Scholarships for these students will be discontinued if they fail to renew their application on NSP within the stipulated time."
