Ahead of the upcoming 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the Opposition parites have started feeling the heat. Congress party, on Saturday launched attacks on All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) president Asaduddin Owaisi for calling Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao - a true 'Hindu.'

Sameer Waliullah, chairman of the minorities department, Hyderabad City Congress Committee (HCCC) said, "With less than five days left for the polling for Lok Sabha elections, neither TRS nor AIMIM has come up with a manifesto with the list of promises they plan to fulfill if they are voted to power. Now they are trying to polarise the elections by raising the 'Hindu-Muslim' topic."

Earlier, Sameer had said that when anyone opposed their party, MIM leaders called them 'non-Muslim.' This comes days after Owaisi said the he would consider Telangana CM Chandrashekar Rao instead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Congress president Rahul Gandhi. He even said that there is no difference between them, that they are 'two sides of the same coin.'

On the topic of communalism Waliullah said, "While BJP and RSS give the certification for 'patriotism' and 'nationalism', MIM is giving certification for being 'Muslims' or 'true Hindus'. Both MIM and TRS are trying to communalise the elections to divert people's attention from real issues."

He asserted that the statement made by Owaisi earlier will only benefit BJP as it lead to polarisation of voters on the premise of religion. The KCR government has been advoacting a non-Congress and non-BJP government at the Centre and Owaisi has semeed to grow closer to Rao's government recently.

But Waliullah has a differnet point to make, he said,

"KCR has been a Modi bhakt since the beginning. He never raised his voice against Modi for attacks on minorities in the name of cow slaughter or love jihad. TRS MPs supported the Modi Government on Triple Talaq Bill. There is not a single policy of the BJP government like demonetisation or GST which was not supported by TRS. But Asaduddin Owaisi is supporting KCR which would eventually help the BJP. Both KCR and Owaisi are followers of 'Moditva' and they want to damage secular forces in the country."

Further, the Congress leader appealed to the people not to get misdirected from statements by Owaisi and KCR, and place their vote for the Congress party which has plans to effectively deal with poverty and unemployment in the country.
While, this week, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had launched attacks on Owaisi and KCR, claiming that the government wanted to do more work in Hyderabad but they acted as hurdles in the way of development.
