Ameesha Patel reacts to Akshay Kumar crooning Gadar 2 song Udd Jaa Kaale Kaava in OMG 2

Ameesha Patel is currently basking in the success of Gadar 2. The Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel starrer released in theatres on the same day as Akshay Kumar’s OMG 2. While Gadar 2 minted more than Rs 400 crore in 12 days of its theatrical run, OMG 2 crossed the Rs 100 crore mark in 9 days of its release. Now, in an interview with an entertainment portal, Ameesha opened up about the box office clash of the two films and spoke about a particular scene in OMG 2 that paid homage to her film.

Post the release of OMG 2, a particular scene featuring Akshay Kumar wherein he’s seen crooning Udd Jaa Kaale Kaava, a song from the Sunny Deol starrer, made headlines. Moviegoers appreciated Akshay for giving a shoutout to Gadar 2 despite the fact that the two films were clashing at the box office. Now, in an interview with Bollywood Hungama, Ameesha Patel shared her views on Akshay not being an ‘insecure’ actor and giving a shoutout to Gadar 2. Ameesha said, “I want every film to work and we should dedicate songs and scenes to each other as tributes and help each other. That is called being a fraternity together. So I am glad Akshay’s done that, he’s not an insecure actor.”

The actress also reacted to the two films working well at the box office. She compared the situation of the film industry to ‘dry lakes’ and commented that in recent times, with the release of films like OMG 2, Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, Gadar 2 and Jailer, the ‘waters have filled the lakes’.

Previously, during the Gadar 2 success press conference (August 14), Sunny Deol was also asked about the OMG 2 scene. At the time, the actor said, “I have not seen the film, so I had no idea.” He was then asked if he avoided watching the film deliberately to which he claimed that he had not even seen ‘Gadar 2 properly’.
