Here's What Aishwarya Rai Bachchan Has To Say About The #MeToo Movement

Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan expressed her views on the ongoing #MeToo Movement. The actress took a strong stand in favour of the same and said the revolution should not lose its momentum.

Bollywood's 'MeToo' movement that started with former actress Tanushree Dutta's allegations of sexual harassment on veteran actor Nana Patekar, gained momentum in the recent days when several women from the industry opened up about their experiences and revealed the names of their sexual predators. The movement has brought into limelight the names of several eminent personalities including Vikas Bahl, Alok Nath, Kailash Kher, Rajat Kapoor and  Chetan Bhagat among others. Several Bollywood celebrities including Sonam Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra, Twinkle Khanna, Simi Garewal, Lisa Ray, and Parineeti Chopra extended their support to the actresses who are raising their voice against the misconduct experienced by them.

Recently, joining the bandwagon is Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, who expressed her views on the ongoing issue. At an event, the actress took a strong stand in favour of the ongoing #MeToo movement. As per media reports, The 'Jazbaa' actress, who has reportedly opened up about her abusive relationship with Salman Khan in the past, said that she has always been outspoken about such issues, but now, these issues are highlighted owing to the raising awareness about gender sensitivity. She also added that she still is outspoken about such incidents and will remain the same in future.

Talking about the revelation of old instances of misconduct, the actress said there is nothing like a right or a wrong time for women to come forward and speak up about the same. She said when it comes to helping women find their voice, find the strength, feel confident about sharing their stories, it's not about the current time. She further stated that the problem was persistent in the industry and that she is glad that the movement against the same has finally gained momentum. The 'Guru' star also appreciated the social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter for helping assault survivors find their voice.

However, Aishwarya reportedly did not agree to comment specifically about any of the accused. She said that the #MeToo movement has been the need of the hour since time immemorial and she hopes that the movement doesn't lose its momentum.  together we keep the momentum going. She further stated that at the same time if a case gets subjudiced, one should respect the judiciary and keeps out of the issue.
