Will Smith has been part of the Hollywood film industry for the last 3 decades. However, it was only recently that a pivotal moment in the industry came when more than 160,000 actors united to go on strike against Hollywood executives. Now, Will Smith extended his support for the same and spoke about acting.

Will Smith thanks his ‘coach’ for his career

Will Smith took to Instagram and shared a picture with students of an acting class. In his caption, he informed his fans about the SAG-AFTRA and the Writer’s Guild of America strike yesterday and said that it’s a pivotal moment in his 33-year-long profession.

He explained that he still feels like “that kid from Philly who’s on borrowed time, even though I know I’ve been extraordinarily blessed and lucky to have worked as an actor.” He then thanked his ‘coach’ Aaron Speiser. After visiting an acting class after being invited by his coach, he said that he met “a group of our talented next generation of actors and they amazed and inspired me.”

The King Richard actor wrapped up the post on an optimistic note. He expressed his gratefulness towards his coach for ensuring that there is support for the budding actors of tomorrow.

The SAG AFTRA and WGA strike

The SAG-AFTRA strike started on July 14 against the Association of Motion Pictures and Television Programme. More than 65,000 actors and more than 11,500 writers have been pulling for better rights, compensation, etc. It remains to be seen how the SAG-AFTRA strike will pan out.
