King of Kotha Box Office Collection Day 4: Dulquer Salmaan starrer has dull 1st weekend

The much-anticipated film King Of Kotha, featuring Dulquer Salmaan, made its theatrical debut on August 25. While the movie marked the actor's best opening performance to date, its reception at the box office has been underwhelming. Despite huge expectations, the film's box office performance has been lackluster and is heading towards a disastrous box office haul.

King of Kotha's disastrous weekend performance

King Of Kotha embarked on its box office journey with modest earnings. In India, collected Rs 6.85 crore on its opening day and followed up with Rs 2.6 crore on the subsequent Friday. On the fourth day of its release, the film collected Rs 2 crore at the domestic box office, resulting in a cumulative four-day earnings of Rs 13.50 crore in India, according to Sacnilk.

The film's occupancy rates reflect a mixed response from audiences. For the Malayalam version, the occupancy was 23.19%, for the Telugu version it was 15.64%, while the Tamil version saw a notably higher occupancy at 33.14%. The film, directed by Abhilash Joshiy experienced an overall theatre attendance rate of 17.29%.

King Of Kotha faced intense competition from two other Malayalam releases - the action-packed RDX and Nivin Pauly's Ramachandra Boss and Co, both of which also hit theaters on August 25. Initial estimates indicate that RDX managed to accumulate Rs 2.10 crore in collections on Sunday, as per the website.

King of Kotha worldwide collection

The Dulquer Salmaan starrer's worldwide collection stands at Rs 19 crore in 4 days. This is a step up for the film. While its 2-day overseas collection is Rs 8.50 crore (gross), its 3-day gross collection in India is Rs 10.50 crore. King Of Kotha, directed by debutant Abhilash Joshiy, is set in the fictional locality of Kotha in 1996, situated near the Kerala-Tamil Nadu border. This area is known for its criminal activities, providing the backdrop for the film's engaging storyline.
