BookMyShow CEO Ashish Hemrajani and the technical team's head have been summoned again by Mumbai police in the alleged black marketing of the Coldplay concert tickets. The Mumbai Police's Economic Offences Wing (EOW) had summoned them earlier on September 27, but they didn't appear before the agency.
BookMyShow CEO Ashish Hemrajani summoned again
According to a report in ANI, Mumbai Police's EOW sent a summons to CEO Ashish Hemrajani of Big Tree Entertainment Private Limited, the parent company of BookMyShow and the company's technical head on Sunday asking them to appear before the authorities. According to ANI, both of them are not in touch with the police.
"Mumbai Police's EOW sent summons to CEO Ashish Hemrajani of Big Tree Entertainment Private Limited, the parent company of BookMyShow and the company's technical head yesterday. EOW had sent them summons earlier on Sep 27 but they didn't appear before the agency. They have been asked to appear before the investigating officer today and record their statements. Advocate Amit Vyas had complained to EOW about the alleged black marketing of the Coldplay concert tickets: Mumbai Police" ANI wrote.
Advocate Vyas alleged that Coldplay's Mumbai tickets were originally priced at ₹2,500 and were being resold by third parties for around ₹3 lakh.
BookMyShow issued clarification
On Saturday, BookMyShow reacted to the allegations made by the advocate and stated they have no association with any such unauthorised ticket-selling/reselling platforms including but not limited to Viagogo and Ginsberg or third-party individuals for the purpose of reselling Coldplay’s Music Of The Spheres World Tour 2025 in India. A spokesperson of BookMyShow stated that 13 million people logged in on September 22 to book tickets for Music Of The Spheres World Tour 2025 in India.
They added that the team worked hard to ensure every fan had a fair chance to secure tickets, capping it at 4 tickets per user across all shows, providing clear, step-by-step booking guides and maintaining transparent communication through all our official channels. To manage the overwhelming demand and address issues, they implemented a queueing system which caused a brief delay but ensured minimal disruption for genuine fans.
It came to their notice that unauthorized platforms listed tickets for Coldplay's India concert were selling the tickets. "We have not only filed a complaint with the police authorities but are also proactively working with them to provide complete support in the investigation of this matter in any manner that may be required," the spokesperson added.
The British rock band will have three shows at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai on January 18, 19 and 21, next year.
