Coldplay India Concert Controversy: BookMyShow Reacts To Allegations Of Black Marketing Of Tickets
BookMyShow spokesperson stated that the ticket booking platform has no association with any unauthorised ticket-selling platforms.
BookMyShow Coldplay Ticket Row: Mumbai Police summoned the CEO Ashish Hemrajani and a senior team member of BookMyShow played a major role during the Coldplay concert ticket selling. The ticket booking platform has been accused of black marketing of tickets for shows of British rock bands. The probe has been initiated on the complaint of an advocate accusing the ticketing platform, the official said. Now, BookMyShow has issued a statement clarifying and actions the platform has taken to ensure a fair ticketing process.
'We’ve worked hard to ensure every fan had a fair chance'
A spokesperson of BookMyShow stated that 13 million people logged in on September 22 to book tickets for Music Of The Spheres World Tour 2025 in India. They added that the team worked hard to ensure every fan had a fair chance to secure tickets, capping it at 4 tickets per user across all shows, providing clear, step-by-step booking guides and maintaining transparent communication through all our official channels. To manage the overwhelming demand and address issues, they implemented a queueing system which caused a brief delay but ensured minimal disruption for genuine fans. "Due to the unprecedented demand, a third Mumbai show was added shortly thereafter, which also received a fantastic response," the spokesperson continued.
Amid this, it came to their notice that unauthorized platforms listed tickets for Coldplay's India concert were selling the tickets. "BookMyShow has no association with any such unauthorised ticket selling/reselling platforms including but not limited to Viagogo and Ginsberg or third-party individuals for the purpose of reselling Coldplay’s Music Of The Spheres World Tour 2025 in India," the spokesperson added
"Scalping and black marketing of tickets is strictly condemned and punishable by law in India and BookMyShow vehemently opposes this practice. We have not only filed a complaint with the police authorities but are also proactively working with them to provide complete support in the investigation of this matter in any manner that may be required," they added. The spokesperson concluded by urging the consumers to be cautious and reiterating that tickets from unauthorised sources come with risks and may likely be invalid or fake tickets.
