Margot Robbie-starrer Barbie secures 18 nominations at Critics Choice Awards 2024

Greta Gerwig’s Barbie emerged as the frontrunner at the recently announced nominations for the 29th edition of Critics Choice Awards. The Margot Robbie-Ryan Gosling starrer musical bagged a total of 18 nominations in a total of 17 categories it was eligible for.

Barbie becomes the most-nominated film ever

These 18 nominations including a nomination for top categories like Best Picture, Best Picture and all the acting categories. This makes Barbie the most-nominated film in the history of Critics’ Choice Awards. The 2022 film Everything Everywhere All At Once and 2017 film The Shape of Water were the previous record-holders, with a total of 14 nominations each other.

Oppenheimer, Poor Things bag 13 nominations each

Among other acclaimed films of 2023, Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer and Yorgos Lanthimos’ Poor Things bagged 13 nominations each.  On the other hand, Martin Scorsese’s period-drama Killers of The Flower Moon secured 12 nominations. 

Bradley Cooper’s directorial Maestro, a biographical drama about Leonard Bernstein won 8 nominations, 5 of which came for the top categories of Best Film, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Actress and Best Screenplay. The Holdovers and American Fiction were the other leading films among the nominees this year, with 8 and 5 nominations respectively.

The 29th Annual Critics Choice Awards will be held on Sunday, January, 14, 2024 in Los Angeles. Here is the complete list of nominees for this year’s Critics Choice Awards:
