A recent podcast clip discussing the budgets of top anime series has gone viral on Instagram, leaving netizens stunned and sparking an interesting debate. The clip reveals the astonishing amounts spent on producing some of the most popular anime shows, leading to comparisons with Bollywood movies. While Hindi films are often considered lavishly funded, they don't come close to the budgets of these anime series.
Dragon Ball Super series has the highest budget for an anime so far
The podcast revealed the staggering budgets of iconic anime series like Naruto, Demon Slayer, Attack on Titan, Jujutsu Kaisen, and Dragon Ball Super with single episodes costing as much as Rs 1 crore 41 lakh. As per the podcaster, the highest budget anime series to date is the latest release Dragon Ball Super, with a whopping ₹1.41 crore spent on a single episode with in total of 219 episodes and more in the running.
On the other side, Naruto costs ₹83 lakh per episode with a total of 500 episodes, Demon Slayer’s cost per episode is nearly ₹90 lakh to ₹1 crore and Attack on Titan's cost per episode is ₹1.24 crore. Anchors' comparison to Punjabi movies is striking buzz, with some Bollywood films having lower budgets than a single episode of these anime series.
Bollywood's big-budget films: Not as expensive as you think
In comparison, Bollywood movies, often thought to be made with lavish budgets, seem modest in comparison with Japanese animes. As per the Forbes report, here are the budgets of some of Bollywood's most expensive films: Adipurush has the highest budget till now in the Bollywood industry with a total budget of ₹500 crore.

Thugs of Hindostan is in second place in terms of the highest budget film till now with ₹310 crores, and Brahmastra is in third number with a budget of ₹300 crore. While these numbers may seem large, they pale in comparison to the budgets of top anime series.
