Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani has evidently earned the title of being a cult comedy film over the years. The film released on November 6, back in 2009 and has completed ten years since its initial release. The film reportedly was the third highest-grossing film of 2009, which also helped Ranbir Kapoor in achieving the status of a bankable actor. Katrina Kaif and Ranbir Kapoor's on-screen pair was loved by many of their fans and it helped the film even further in strengthening the film's hold at the box-office. The romantic comedy film featured some iconic songs like Tu Jaane Na and Tera Hone Laga Hoon which are reportedly still massive hits on radio and music streaming platforms. Ranbir Kapoor wasn't the first choice for the film
Though the film went on to become one of the biggest hits of Ranbir Kapoor's career, the film wasn't offered to him initially. Director Rajkumar Santoshi reportedly first approached actor Shahid Kapoor to essay the character of Prem. Shahid had reportedly refused the offer of the film as he felt that the character was too similar to his character in Jab We Met. Director Rajkumar Santoshi and Shahid Kapoor went on to work together in the film Phata Poster Nikla Hero.

The film faced some production issues
An extended sequence was scheduled to be shot in Ooty for the film. A set was built in Ooty to reportedly shoot over a month's time. But a sudden downpour weakened the set just on the seventh day of the shoot. The cast and crew of the film then shot the remaining portion of the film in Mumbai. The film was also on a halt for a month when Katrina Kaif got injured while shooting a chase sequence.

Two songs were deleted from the final cut of the film
Pritam helmed the music of Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani. As per reports, two songs from the film were cut when Pritam approached the film's producer Ramesh S Taurani. One song from the two was already picturized on Ranbir but was shelved on Pirtam's request. The songs were speculated to be plagiarized which led to them being cut out from the film.
