Ali Fazal is currently gearing up for the release of his upcoming film Khufiya. The movie also stars Tabu and Wamiqa Gabbi alongside the Fukrey actor. In one of the interviews ahead of the film's release, Ali opened up about facing uncomfortable situations on the movie set. He talked about feeling cornered when he refused to do a "random" intimate scene in one of his projects.

Ali Fazal on preconceived notions about male actors

In a conversation with Pinkvilla, Ali revealed that he had apprehensions about doing an intimate sequence that was written into the script without his knowledge or approval. He explained how he felt "trapped" because the actress who was meant to feature in the scene with him had already been informed about it, while he was kept in the dark.

The actor said, “I remember there was an intimate scene between a man and a woman, the man being me in question, and it was randomly introduced. It was not in the script; it was not discussed. I said, ‘I’m not comfortable with it,’ and people weren’t expecting a guy to say that. Why is it assumed that I’m too ready? Why is it assumed that I should be okay? I was uncomfortable with the kind of choreography that was.”

Ali Fazal stresses on importance of intimacy coordinators

Ali emphasised the importance of having intimacy coordinators on set while filming such scenes. He stated that it is their responsibility to keep the environment secure and comfortable for people of all genders. On the work front, apart from Khufiya, Ali Fazal will be seen in Metro In Dino with Fatima Sana Shaikh, Aditya Roy Kapur, Sara Ali Khan and others. He also has the third season of the OTT series Mirzapur lined up in the coming time.
