Anees Bazmee On Akshay Kumar's Possible Cameo In Bhool Bhulaiyaa Franchise: 'He'll Definitely...'

Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3: Kartik Aaryan's horror-comedy sequel is set to release in theatres on November 1. This film marks the third installment of the popular Bhool Bhulaiyaa franchise, which filmmaker Priyadarshan began in 2007, originally starring Akshay Kumar . After the first part’s record-breaking success, Anees Bazmee donned the director's hat for Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 in 2022 featuring Kartik Aaryan in the lead role. However, fans have missed Akshay’s presence since the first film.

In this latest instalment, Vidya Balan returns with the iconic aura of Manjulika. Madhuri Dixit also joins the cast, adding to the excitement. With this, fans are now eager for the return of classic Dr. Aditya aka Akshay Kumar, after Anees Bazmee hinted at the possible cameo.

Will there be Akshay Kumar's cameo in Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3?

In a recent interview, Anees Bazmee shared why Akshay Kumar couldn't make a cameo in Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, adding that Kumar would have done a "brilliant job" in the film.

When asked if he might reach out to Akshay for future Bhool Bhulaiyaa projects, Bazmee expressed confidence, saying, "I know I can contact him anytime. I don’t even need to think twice about it. I have a lot of love for him. Mujhe lagta hai ki mera ek haq hai unpe (I feel I have that right).”

BB3 director also mentioned he could "insist and coax" Akshay to take on a role in his films, saying, "There are very few people I feel I have that right over. That’s the kind of relationship I share with him. If a character or a cameo suits him, he’ll definitely do it."

Reflecting on the challenges of casting Kartik instead of Akshay in Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, Bazmee admitted his concerns, explaining, "Akshay ji was fantastic in the original Bhool Bhulaiyaa, so creating a sequel without him was difficult. But we poured a lot of sincerity and heart into Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 with the resources we had. When it was released, the audience appreciated Kartik just as much as they had liked Akshay ji."

How Akshay Kumar's Cameo in Stree 2 raised expectations

On August 15, Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor starrer Stree 2 was released and broke all the records at the box office. While the film got a great response from the audience, what stole the show was Akshay Kumar's cameo as Sarkata’s descendant. He portrayed the leader of a group of mental hospital patients within the Stree multiverse, bringing fans nostalgic memories of his iconic role in Bhool Bhulaiyaa. 

Khiladi Kumar’s official return to the horror comedy sip has left his fans excited with many speculating about his cameo in Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, especially after Stree 2’s box office standing. Although, Akshay has confirmed that these rumours are false. Nonetheless, fans remain hopeful for a surprise.
