Ranbir Kapoor’s recently released movie Animal is minting good money at the box office and is being largely appreciated by the audiences. Whereas a major set of people have called out the movie for its misogynistic plot, gory storyline and unwanted sexualisation.
Siddhant Karnick, who played Ranbir’s brother-in-law in, Animal defends the lead
Karnick addressed a particular scene where Ranbir’s character pulls the bra strap of Rashmika Mandanna’s character and she is visibly weeping afterwards. Talking about it, he told Bollywood Now, “I understood the kinkiness that Ranbir's character was trying to show with the bra strap.”
He continued, “See there are terms called masochism and sadism, which are used in sexual orientation. That showed that Rashmika’s character could be a masochist. She was agreeable to that kind of act. We, as audience, feel that what was happening is wrong. But actually, in cinema, it’s between those two characters and it is right for them. So why are we judging that? They are telling us about the characters and what the characters like, it is up to them.”

He told Bollywood Hungama, Siddhant said, “That’s what portrayed the man’s psycho-ness. That he is good but he also has these deep dark traits. That was a very fine line for Vijay to turn villain, it is not easy to tread on. I felt damn unsettled with that scene. But now when I think about, it was also so good, it makes you react.”
