Animal director Sandeep Reddy Vanga wants to make a comedy film next? Here's what we know

Sandeep Reddy Vanga is a mere few hours away from the release of arguably one of the biggest films of the year, Animal. The Ranbir Kapoor led violent family saga boasts of an ensemble cast and insurmountable hype, as can be seen with the growing advance ticket sales which has earned the film ₹16.5 crores as per a Sacnilk report, even prior to its theatrical release. However, what is next for the director?

Sandeep Reddy Vanga says he wants to explore the comedy genre

In an exclusive chat with Pinkvilla, director Sandeep Reddy Vanga and producer Bhushan Kumar opened up on their long-standing professional relationship while shedding some more light on possible future projects. When asked about a genre he would want to potentially explore, Sandeep was quick to respond. He said, "I have one comedy script, yeah, but I don't know when I'll do it but that's only one though which I have." When further asked if the script in question would be a typical family comedy, Vanga simply highlighted how it would be "different". 

For the unversed, comedy would be a completely new genre for Sandeep Reddy Vanga, intensity being his strong suit. His three-movie strong filmography is made up of 2017 Telugu release Arjun Reddy, its 2019 Bollywood remake Kabir Singh and the now soon to release Animal.

Bhushan Kumar wants Sandeep Reddy 

Bhushan Kumar seconded Vanga's vision of wanting to helm a comedy film. The producer added that Vanga's version of a comedy film would come with its own unique quirks. This is owing to the director's vision which has, as per Kumar, made each scene in Animal radically different from the next. 

He said, "It will be a very different take on humour, like he does with every film. Even in Animal, every scene is a new scene. It will be great to see Sandeep direct a comedy." Animal will release in theatres on December 1.
