Asha Parekh Finally Addresses Marriage Rumours With Shammi Kapoor

Asha Parekh is one of the talented Bollywood heroines of the 60s who continued to rule the silver screens till the 80s. She has given numerous hit movies and memorable performances that are considered cult classics. She was known for her on-screen chemistry with Shammi Kapoor and the audience rooted for them to come together in real life. Back then, the late actor had spread a rumour of being married to Parekh. Now, when the veteran star made her appearance on a talk show, host Arbaaz Khan asked her to clarify.

Was Asha Parekh married to Shaami Kapoor?

In a promo dropped a few days ago, Khan can be heard asking, "Shammi ji ne ek rumour failaaya tha ki aapki aur unki shaadi ho gayi thi. (Shammi ji spread a rumour that you and he got married)." To this, the veteran actress humorously replied, “Yes, we are married.” The whole story will be known after the full episode is released.

Meanwhile, Asha Parekh and Shammi Kapoor share screen space in movies, such as Teesri Manzil, Batwara, and Dil Deke Dekho. While Asha Parekh never got married, Shaami Kapoor married twice. First, he was married to Geeta Bali in 1955, who died in 1965. After four years of her death, the veteran star tied the knot again with Neila Devi in 1960. Shammi died at the age of 79 in 2011.

Why Asha Parekh and Shatrughan Sinha did not get along on sets?

In the same promo, Khan asked Parekh about her sour equation with Shatrughan Sinha. To this, she quoted Sinha, saying, “Mai jaise kehta hu vaise hona chahiye. (It should be done the way I say.)” Adding to it, she said, “He gave some statements in the press, which were very derogatory to him, not to me.” The duo worked together in the movies, including Mere Apne, Sajan, Sagar Sangam and Heera.
