Akshay Kumar's latest release Sarfira hit the big screens on July 12. The actor has been busy with the promotions of the film of late. However, Akshay has reportedly tested positive for Covid-19. Due to this, he will be missing out on the wedding of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant on July 12 at the Jio World Convention Center.
According to reports, Akshay was under the weather for the past few days and decided to get himself checked. He tested positive for coronavirus on Friday morning and has isolated himself.
Akshay Kumar had been busy with the promotions of his new film Sarfira. He travelled to various cities with his co-star Radhikka Madan and their respective team. Recently, a screening of the film was also organised in Mumbai with producers Suriya and Jyothika also gracing the event. According to reports, people from Sarfira promotions team tested Covid positive prompting the Bollywood star to get himself checked as well. Turns out, he had contracted the virus.
Now, he is in complete isolation and will miss out on Anant and Radhika's wedding celebrations which will begin on July 12 and end on July 15 with a grand reception.
Sarfira is the Hindi remake of Suriya starrer Soorarai Pottru (2020). The film is inspired by events from the life of GR Gopinath, founder of Indian low-cost airline Simplifly Deccan, as described in his memoir Simply Fly: A Deccan Odyssey. Sudha Kongara has directed the movie. She also helmed the original Tamil title that premiered directly on OTT due to Covid restrictions.
According to Sacnilk, Sarfira is expected to score an opening of less than Rs 5 crore. However, its business may pick up if there is positive word of mouth.
