Chameli Director Recalls Kareena Kapoor Would Continue Acting Even After He 'Forgot' To Say Cut
Sudhir Mishra directed Chameli which features Kareena Kapoor and Rahul Bose in the lead role. The film was released in January 2024.
Kareena Kapoor gave one of her most iconic performances in the 2004 film Chameli. Sudhir Mishra directed the film and Rahul Bose plays the lead role in it. The actress essayed the role of a sex worker in the movie. In a new interview, Sudhir Mishra heaped praise on Kareena and spoke highly of her acting prowess.

In an interview with Bollywood Bubble, Sudhir Mishra heaped praises on Kareena Kapoor. He appreciated the Crew actress for her dedication. He recalled the time on the set of Chameli when the actress continued to act because he missed to say cut.
The director shared, “Kareena is hugely talented, I remember the script would come every day with dialogues, those who work in mainstream are used to this… She is from Raj Kapoor’s family, she knows how to respect the director and the process. When she would give the shot, I realised that were many a times when I forgot to say cut, she wouldn’t stop either.”

In the same interview, the director added that Kareena Kapoor brought a sense of discipline to the sets of Chameli. He shared, "It is that sense of discipline, that when the director doesn’t cut, I will continue performing. She would then end up doing something or the other that I didn’t ask her to and it was so beautiful. There are a lot of shots which I have held on to her face and kept them. She is Chameli, she is the film. Her discipline was amazing to witness… with so much rehearsals in the rain and in such a short span of time.”
Chameli was a remade of the Telugu movie Jabilamma (2008). As per media reports, Ameesha Patel was first offered the role, but she refused after which it went to Kareena Kapoor. The movie became a turning point in her career.
