CINTAA President Poonam Dhillon Reacts To Kranti Credit Row Between Manoj Kumar, Javed-Salim
During the trailer launch of Angry Youn Men, it was claimed that Manoj Kumar was trying to take away Salim-Javed's writing credit for Kranti.
Salim Khan and Javed Akhtar's Angry Young Men is widely being hailed by the audience. In the docuseries, the legendary writers opened up about fighting for recognition for their work, especially for the movie Kranti, starring Manoj Kumar. Earlier, during the trailer launch, Salim Khan's son Salman Khan also shared that veteran actor-director Manoj Kumar claimed that he wrote the film. He said, "Manoj Kumar would say, 'main inko batata hoon aur yeh dono agle din wahi likh kar laate hai'."
As the matter escalated, Instant Bollywood got in touch with Cine & TV Artistes Association (CINTAA) President Poonam Dhillon and asked her about Salman's statement about Manoj Kumar.

During an interview, Poonam Dhillon was asked to react to Salman's statement about Salim-Javed not being credited by Manoj Kumar for Kranti. To this, the veteran actress replied that she didn't know about it and has the utmost respect for Manoj Kumar and Salim-Javed. She added, "Mujhe nahi pata un title mai kiska naam hai. Maine salo saal pehle dekhi thi movie. Manoj (Kumar) Ji bhi yahin hai aur unka pura unit bhi... (I don't know as I watched the movie years ago. Manoj Kumar and his entire unit are here so one can ask them.) Salman knows, and Javed-Salim knows toh vohi clarify karsakte hai hum kaise clarify karenge. But achi film jaab bhi banti hai toh sahi jano ko credit milna chahiye.

Indian historical drama film, produced, edited, dialogue and directed by Manoj Kumar was released in 1981. The film marked the return of Dilip Kumar after a four-year hiatus. Apart from Dilip and Manoj, the movie also starred Shashi Kapoor, Shatrughan Sinha, Hema Malini and Parveen Babi in the key roles. The film takes place in 19th-century British India and is the story of the fight for independence from the British between 1825 and 1875. The film tells the story of men who lead the struggle against British Rule: Sanga, Bharat known as Kranti, a prince and a freedom fighter.
The movie was widely hailed by critics and went on to become the highest-grossing Indian film of the 1980s decade.
