Farah Khan opens up about financial struggles

In a recent conversation with Maniesh Paul during his podcast, Farah Khan said that at the time of her father's passing, he had a mere Rs 30 in his pocket. She recalled the challenges she and her brother, Sajid Khan, faced in arranging funds for their father's funeral.

Farah revealed, "The night before, he had played cards, and the only money he had in his pocket was the Rs 30 he had won from those games."

She also shed light on their family's deteriorating financial situation. She recalled her initial indulgence in buying records daily to play on their gramophone and dance to the music. However, as their financial difficulties worsened, she said that they had to part ways with various possessions, including the gramophone.

"At one point, our financial situation became so dire that we couldn't even afford to repair the lock on our front door. Hence, my mother resorted to placing a rock at the bottom to keep it closed," Farah explained. 

Farah Khan on coping with humour

Farah Khan said that her sense of humour played a crucial role in helping her family overcome adversity. She stated that both she and her director-brother Sajid Khan found solace in dark humour after their father's demise. She revealed that they made fun of the people who came to the funeral. 

Farah concluded, "About a week or two after our father’s passing, we found solace in dark humour. We began to make fun of the people who came to the funeral. This kind of humour played a crucial role in helping us cope during challenging times. Otherwise, it's easy to succumb to depression."
