How Chak De India Actor Became Real-Life Villain For Indian Hockey Team At Paris Olympics

The Paris Olympics are ongoing and several athletes have left a lasting impression on sports fans watching all around the globe. Joshua Burt, who was a techinal assistant in one of the hockey games that India played, has also attracted attention, but for the wrong reasons. Burt gave red card to Amit Rohidas during the match, ruling him out of the semi finals against Germany.
Why netizens are miffed with Joshua Burt?
The controversy arose after Joshua Burt, who played the role of the coach of the Australian women’s hockey team in Chak De India, penned the suspension letter for Amit Rohidas, as a technical delegate to the FIH at the Paris Olympics 2024.
In the suspension letter Joshua Burt wrote, ”Amit Rohidas was suspended for one match for a breach of the FIH Code of Conduct which occurred during the India Vs Great Britain match on August 4. The Suspension affects match no.35 (India’s semi-final match against Germany), where Amit Rohidas will not participate and India will play with a squad of 15 players only.”
Defender Amit Rohidas was given a red card in the 17th minute of the match. He was trying to run with the ball and was being challenged by Will Canna. But, the Indian defender’s stick hit Canna on the head.
Hockey fans are miffed with Joshua Burt and flooded the internet with hate posts. One user wrote, “India se paisa kama kr indian player ko red card dikha dia..” Another user wrote, “Lgta h Australia T20 ka haar ka badla ley rha h."

Who is Joshua Burt?
Joshua Burt, born in Melbourne, is known for his work in Chak De India. He has a twin sister Tiffany and a half-brother Lucas. He attended Mentone Grammar School and Monash University, Clayton. He was initially engaged as Hockey technical advisor and skills coach, but his popularity on the set soon invited him to be cast for many of the hockey scenes in Melbourne and Sydney.
He was contributions in sports, managed, been coach at an elite level. He has also been part of officiating teams in both Rio and Tokyo Olympics and is now serving as the technical delegate to the FIH at the Paris Olympics.
