IFFI 2023: Ranjeet says he was a 'cruel villain, not a vulgar one'
Actor Ranjeet who had appeared in over 200 Hindi films talked about his villain roles in his various films in OTT.

Actor Ranjeet who is popular for his villainous roles in over 200 Hindi films, graced the red carpet of the 54th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa. At the event, he talked about his villain roles in his various films in OTT.
During an interview with ANI, Ranjeet said, “Now, these days, there is a lot of vulgarity, dirty dialogues in the movies or OTT. I was a cruel villain, not a vulgar. So, I get due respect in every work of life, in any part of society."
“I am very proud of it and they loved it. That’s my profession and I have to justify it what I am doing. I have no Godfather. I have enjoyed the Film industry and it is a great line,” he added.
Ranjeet on his villain roles
Ranjeet also mentioned that the villain roles he did in films don’t affect his personal life.

He said, “Never because my kids knew that this was my job because of the media. They knew that his father was doing a great job. Luckily, my wife takes care of them because I used to shoot 7 or 8 films in one day.”
Apart from his villainous roles, he has also played a positive character in the TV series Aisa Des Hai Mera.

For those who didn't know Sunil Dutt had suggested his name after liking his performance in Sawan Bhadon and Reshma Aur Shera.
Ranjeet's professional background
He came to Mumbai to play the main role in Zindagi Ki Rahen. This movie was shelved. Then he went ahead to establish himself as a leading villain in the seventies and early eighties. Not many know that he is a vegetarian and non-smoker.
He has also worked in many Punjabi films namely Rab Ne Banayian Jodiyan, Maujaan Dubai Diyaan, and Man Jeete Jag Jeet. He was shot to fame after playing a negative role in the film Sharmeelee.
