Independence Day Box Office: Shraddha Takes On Sunny, Akshay, Ajay For Biggest August 15 Grosser

Independence Day Box Office: With three big films lined up for release on August 15 this year, the Bollywood box office is set to witness a battle like no other. Shraddha Kapoor's Stree 2, John Abraham and Sharvari's Vedaa and Akshay Kumar starrer Khel Khel Mein are up for a three-way clash. With Shraddha's horror-comedy sequel taking the lead, the other two releases are lagging by a huge margin.

Since the advance bookings of Stree 2 have gained incredible momentum, it remains to be seen where the final day 1 numbers land. Meanwhile, here is a look at Bollywood films that are top-grossers on August 15.  

Gadar 2 (2023)

Sunny Deol-Ameesha Patel starrer Gadar 2 stands on top of the list of highest-grossing Bollywood films on August 15. Though it released on August 11, the business peaked on Independence Day holiday as it collected ₹55.40 crore. The record seems a difficult one to beat.  

Ek Tha Tiger(2012)

Kabir Khan's Ek Tha Tiger comes in at 2nd spot in the list of highest-grossing Bollywood films on August 15. Powered by good music and thrilling action sequences, it minted ₹32.93 crore on its opening day on August 15.

Singham Returns (2014)

Ajay Devgn starrer Singham Again released on August 15 to impressive numbers. The return of Ajay has the honest cop Bajirao Singham raised anticipation, helping the film collect ₹32.10 crore on August 15 back in 2014.

Mission Mangal (2019)

Akshay Kumar, Vidya Balan, Taapsee Pannu and Sonakshi Sinha starrer Mission Mangal is based on the life of scientists at the Indian Space Research Organisation who contributed to India's first interplanetary expedition Mars Orbiter Mission. Riding on the wave of patriotism, the film currently stands on the number 4 spot in the list of films with highest collections on August 15, with ₹29.16 crore earnings.   

Gold (2018)

Another Akshay Kumar starrer takes a spot in the list of highest-grossing films on Independence Day. Gold is based on the journey of India's national hockey team to the 1948 Summer Olympics and follows Tapan Das (Akshay), the man who won India its first gold medal in the same event. It collected ₹25.25 crore upon its release on August 15.
