Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara on the cards? Zoya Akhtar shares her plans

Zoya Akhtar, celebrated for her diverse storytelling, recently expressed her inclination towards creating a sequel to the comedy-drama Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara. Akhtar disclosed her eagerness for a sequel and also emphasised the importance of capturing the essence of the original film before embarking on such a project. She said that she doesn't want to make the sequel "just for money."

Is Zoya Akhtar planning to make a sequel to ZNMD?

During an interview with ANI, Zoya Akhtar responded to the questions surrounding the sequel to Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara. Akhtar highlighted the need to uphold the essence of the original and not merely pursue a sequel for monetary gains.

She said, "That movie meant a lot to us. So, if we find that soul for part two, we will make it. We don't want to do it just for money. When the audience comes to watch the second part, they will have a certain expectation, and we must give it to them; otherwise, they won't be happy."

In an earlier interview with Pinkvilla, Zoya said that she is looking forward to making the film's sequel. "Yes, if I find a story which is more than the fact that it is a Franchise capitalizing on and if it's a real story that needs to be told, I will definitely," she said.

What is Zoya Akhtar's criteria of doing films?

Sharing the criteria behind her distinct and interesting projects, Zoya Akhtar added, "What comes to my mind is one is that a story and an arc. I also think about what I want someone to feel or say. Let me talk about 'Gully Boy'. It is a rags-to-riches story on the surface. It is a story about a rapper from Dharavi who makes it. But at the end of the day, what I want to show is the class system."

Meanwhile, Zoya Akhtar is currently gearing up for the release of her upcoming directorial film The Archies on OTT on December 7.
