Kangana On Emergency: After several delays, Kangana Ranaut starrer Emergency is all set to hit the big screens on September 6. The actress along with the cast and crew of the movie arrived for the trailer launch held in Mumbai on August 14. Speaking to the media at the event the actress-turned-politician addressed a pressing issue that she thought would tarnish the film's success.
Kangana Ranaut talks about her concern with Emergency
Kangana Ranaut is known to not mince her words in public. She has been open to calling out the celebrities and the Hindi film industry on issues such as nepotism and lobbying. The trailer launch of her upcoming film Emergency was no exception either.
As per ANI, the actress shared, “People who are waiting to overwrite this product with negativity will invest in the PRs to malign the film and to unnecessarily take away from the film. That's our only concern.” She added that she would speak without any hesitance but what stops her is, “People in our film industry can be extremely negative to sabotage films and ruin careers. This is why I am a little hesitant otherwise I speak in the Parliament, so there is no issue.”

Emergency marks Ranaut's first release after being elected an MP on a BJP ticket from Mandi, in her native Himachal Pradesh. She made her directorial debut with 2019's Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi where she shared the directing credit with Krish Jagarlamudi. The movie also stars Anupam Kher, Mahima Chaudhary, Milind Soman, Shreyas Talpade, Vishak Nair, and the late Satish Kaushik in pivotal roles. It is produced by Zee Studios and Ranaut's Manikarnika Films.

Based on the period when an emergency was imposed in the country in 1975, it stars Ranaut as the former Prime Minister of India, Indira Gandhi. The trailer shows young Indira's bond with her father, the late Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, as she entered politics. It then shows how she dealt with conflicts, political turmoil, and other issues over her lengthy career. It also gives glimpses into the various issues that the film touches including the Emergency period, the Shimla Agreement, the rise of the Khalistan movement, and JP Andolan, among others.
