Actress Genelia D'Souza turns 31 on August 5. The actress who shot to fame with 'Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na' in 2008 won many hearts with her bubbly girl next door image. But it was with her 2003 film 'Tujhe Meri Kasam' when she stepped into Bollywood. The actress is now married to actor Riteish Deshmukh, her co-star from 'Tujhe Meri Kasam' and they both are parents to two lovely kids named Riaan and Rahyl. While the world knows her as Genelia D'Souza, very few people know that Genelia's name is a combination of her parents' name, Jeanette D'Souza and Neil D'Souza. What's interesting is that Genelia has a nickname called Geenu.

GENELIA'S ACTING DEBUT WITH AMITABH BACHCHAN

She got her fame with 'Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na' in 2008 when Genelia was just 21 years old. But the actress has had her acting debut long back and that too with the megastar of the film industry Amitabh Bachchan, when she Genelia was just 15 years old and was studying in college. Genelia's first brush with the camera was when she shot for a pen commercial alongside Amitabh Bachchan. Interesting to know that Genelia had her exam the day after she shot for the commercial ad.

The world might know her as the cute bubbly girl next door actress. But very few people know that this cute actress is actually a sportsperson as well. Before walking onto the path of acting, Genelia was a state-level athlete and a national-level footballer. The actress has often credited her sports background for managing the hectic work schedules in Hindi and South film industries as sports has always kept her stamina levels high. Despite being a good sportsperson, Genelia confesses that she did not pursue it as a profession and its acting that chose her.
