The trailer introduces Ranbir in a never-seen-before avatar, portraying a revenge-seeking and maddening character. Ranbir Kapoor's appearance in a white kurta with a tilak on his forehead has sparked comparisons with Sanjay Dutt's iconic look in the film Vaastav. Social media platforms, especially X (formerly known as Twitter), are flooded with comments noting the resemblance.

The users expressed their views on the uncanny resemblance, with one user stating, "After watching Animal trailer.. I was like.. Whether I was seeing Sanjay Dutt another Biopic." During the trailer launch of Animal, Ranbir Kapoor spoke about his aggressive character in the film. He revealed that, seeking inspiration, he repeatedly asked the director, Sandeep Reddy Vanga, for a reference. Interestingly, the actor shared that he unconsciously channeled the aggressive nature of his late father, Rishi Kapoor, stating, "I think jis tarike se woh bat karte the, he was a very passionate, aggressive man."

When Ranbir Kapoor spoke about his childhood obsession with Sanjay Dutt

This isn't the first time Ranbir Kapoor has found himself connected to Sanjay Dutt. In 2018, he portrayed the legendary actor in the biopic Sanju. Expressing his childhood obsession with Dutt, the actor mentioned how the latter humourously commented on his frail body and motivated him to focus on fitness.

He said, “I never took a character at home. Though after I finish Sanju... it took me time to get over the Sanjay Dutt hangover. This is because my eyes became like him, I started smiling like him, and I started walking like him. So that took a little time, but other than that, no other film."
