Saira Banu shares hilarious incident when Dharmendra met Dilip Kumar for the first time

Saira Banu has been actively sharing posts on her Instagram handle since she debuted on social media. The yesteryear actress has been sharing anecdotes related to Dilip Kumar and his bonding with his peers, such as Raj Kapoor and Dev Anand among others. Speaking of which, she recently opened up on the superstar's friendship with Dharmendra and recalled their first meeting.

Dharmendra stormed into Dilip Kumar's house to meet him

Recalling the incident, Saira Banu wrote that in 1952, Dharmendra, after watching Dilip Kumar's Shaheed, travelled from Ludhiana, Punjab to Mumbai just to meet the star. Saira Banu continued, "He (Dharmendra) entered, went up the stairs, and stopped by the entrance of a room; where he saw a fair, slim, and handsome man asleep on the sofa. He stood there admiring Sahib, his idol, right in front of him." However, when Dilip Kumar woke up and called his staff,  Dharmander bolted downstairs.

Dilip Kumar became the beacon of light in Dharmandera's life

Speaking about their deep bond, Saira Banu revealed that after six years, when Dharmendra returned to Mumbai for Filmfare's Talent Contest, he sought an appointment to meet the late actor. During their interaction, Dilip Kumar spoke to him like an elder brother, and since then, Dharmendra never took an appointment to meet the actor.

Towards the end of the note, Saira Banu quoted Dharmendra saying that he used to look at his and Dilip Kumar's picture every day beside his parents. He added, "When I was working with Saira, I used to tell her jokingly, 'I am in competition with Saira for the love of Yusuf Sahib!'" Dharmendra made a brief appearance in Dilip Kumar's Paari (1966).
