Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar director had no idea when the film released, Arjun Kapoor told him

Dibakar Banerjee directed the 2021 comedy film Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar. The film was headlined by Arjun Kapoor and Parineeti Chopra. In a new interview, the filmmaker opened up about the strange release of the movie. The film was released in theatres during the second wave of the coronavirus pandemic before the halls shut down. Subsequently, the movie was premiered on a digital platform, which the director mentioned he had no idea about.

Dibakar Banerjee says he had no idea when the film released on Amazon Prime Video 

Dibakar Banerjee recently spoke about his film Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar in a recent interview. In conversation with YouTuber Samdish Bhatia, the director recalled Arjun Kapoor, the lead actor in the film, telling him that the movie has already premiered on the digital platform. He recalled, “The way Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar was released, you know how it was released? Arjun called me and said, ‘Sir, it has been released, the film has been released!’ I was like, what are you saying and he said that he saw it was released on Amazon. So I asked him about marketing and he said he didn’t know about  marketing but the film had released.”

The director further recalled discussing with the actor that there was no marketing, no advertisment for the film. He recalled, “He (Arjun) saw it, there was no marketing, nothing… So what happens is, you realise that you are a problem. It released on Amazon, so at least a few people watched it. But this problem is going to increase, it is going to get bigger and become a bigger issue.” 

Dibakar Banerjee said Parineeti Chopra, Arjun Kapoor are not juvenile 

During the release of Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar, director Dibakar Banerjee spoke about the lead actors of the film. He said, “(It was) Very surprising because I think they had also made up their minds that this would be a very different experience and came prepared for it and very surprisingly we had none of the juvenility that I generally associate with Bollywood and its trappings. They were quite adults.” 

He further heaped praises of the actors and claimed, “Arjun worked his pants off trying to get the character, diction the body language (right). Parinteeti gave her whole heart and soul into her character, which goes through some intense and shattering experiences.”
