Sandeep Reddy Vanga is basking in the success of his latest film Animal. The film has scripted history by becoming the fastest Hindi film to enter the ₹500 crore club in India. The movie is headlined by Ranbir Kapoor, who is garnering praise for his acting in the film. However, in a new interview, Sandeep Reddy Vanga opened up about Ranbir’s reservation with the film’s teaser.

Sandeep Reddy Vanga shares what Ranbir Kapoor did not like about Animal teaser

In an interview with Komal Nahta, Sandeep Reddy Vanga addressed how he put a superstar tag against Ranbir Kapoor’s name in the Animal teaser and poster. The director clarified that in all the years he had worked with Ranbir, he had never said no to him for anything, except using the tag ‘superstar’ against his name.

The director recalled, “He didn’t like it at all. I was going to place the superstar tag in the audio teaser. He saw and he said, ‘Nahi, ye nikal do. They do it in the South but not here. I told him, ‘Ranbir, this is my feeling, my conviction.’ Through the three years we’ve worked together, that was the only thing Ranbir refused to. He never said no for anything.” However the filmmaker noted that even after Ranbir’s reservation, he insisted on keeping the tag and it eventually did appear on the poster. He added, “By the time the poster came in, I told him, ‘If you say no also, I am going to put it.’ That is my feeling, that he is a superstar.”

Sandeep Reddy Vanga says he believes Ranbir Kapoor is truly superstar

In the same conversation, Sandeep Reddy Vanga reasoned why thinks Ranbir Kapoor is deserving of the ‘superstar’ tag. He claimed, “I have seen his movies in Hyderabad and I have noticed the crowd cheer for him. I feel that only a star gets that welcome. Without a reason I had that feeling, you cannot reason out a few things. I felt like giving him the superstar tag. No one asked me why we gave him that tag.”

The director added that Ranbir’s absence from social media makes him less accessible to the people and thus they have to buy a ticket for his film to see him. He added, “He is not on social media. If you want to see him, you have to give money over the counter and see him (in theatres). He doesn’t do many ads either so that’s a star na.”
