Sanjay Mishra's latest film, Guthlee Ladoo, has found itself in the midst of legal trouble. A case has been registered against the makers in Ahmedabad and Delhi. The bone of contention in this regard is the alleged use of casteist slur in the film. Director Irshat Khan recently expressed his opinion on the situation.

Irshat Khan addresses the controversy

Speaking to ANI, director Irshat Khan shared his take on the situation. Addressing the usage of the term in question, he detailed how it has actually been portrayed in a positive context in the film. Khan also stated how the film had no issues with certification with the board (CBFC) and has been thoroughly celebrated with awards. He further asserted how Guthlee Ladoo is in no way a casteist film.

He said, "The term which we have used we have shown it in a very positive way. Our film targets on Right to education. When we took the film for the censor certification, they did not show any objection and our film got the certificate without any cuts. Our film has received more than 50 awards and no one anywhere has raised any objection to this film as to why they are using this word. We have not shown anything wrong about any caste in our film."

Guthlee Ladoo deals with the lives of two friends, Guthlee and Ladoo who come from socially backward backgrounds. While Ladoo is content with his life as it is despite the shortcomings, Guthlee wants more - particularly the right to study and build a better life.
