Ulajh BO Collection Day 3: Janhvi Kapoor Starrer Sees A Jump, Mints ₹4.90 Crore In Opening Weekend

Janhvi Kapoor and Gulshan Devaiah starrer Ulajh is struggling at the box office. The movie opened at ₹1.15 crore, followed by a slight spike in the collection on the second day - 1.75 crore. On Sunday, the movie was expected to earn more and it did.

Helmed by Sudhanshu Saria, the movie minted ₹2 crore at the domestic box office, early estimates reported by Sacnilk. Adding the three-day collection, the total now stands at ₹4.90 crore. Ulajh had an overall 23.26 per cent Hindi occupancy on Sunday with the maximum reported in Chennai (53.67 per cent).

Gulshan Devaiah defends Ulajh's low box office

Gulshan Devaiah took to his X (formerly Twitter) to reshare a recent box office report of his film. The actor, in a sporting manner, shared the post mentioning that hits and flops are a part of each actor's journey. He also added that one needs to embrace the struggle to truly appreciate the results. Sharing the box office report, Ramleela fame wrote, “Struggle is the salt that makes success taste good. The ones who don’t embrace the struggle will never achieve anything worthwhile. This is a tough business. Period.”

Gulshan Devaiah on releasing Ulajh on big screens rather than OTT

Many critics as well as social media users have argued that Ulajh would have seemingly incurred fewer losses for the producers if it were to release directly on OTT. Gulshan Devaiah addressed the issue in a social media post and mentioned, “Feature films are meant to be seen on the big screen. Hit flop toh chalta rahta hai. (hits and flops are parts and parcels of the process).”

He added that a theatrical release was especially dear to him. He noted, "As pragmatic as I am about a lot of things, I’m not willing to let go of my idealism when it comes to cinema. I also don’t expect people to understand this. It’s a very personal thing for me."
