Actor Varun Dhawan is all set to collaborate with his father and veteran film director David Dhawan for his next film. Like all their previous films together, the upcoming film too will be reportedly a comedy. David and Varun had earlier worked together on films like Main Tera Hero, Judwaa 2 and Coolie no. 1.
What more do we know about Varun-David new project
Reportedly, after the failure of his previous film Coolie no. 1, which released in 2020 during the pandemic, David Dhawan had spent a lot of time exploring suitable ideas for next film and kept waiting for the right storyline even if it meant waiting for a long time. The subject Dhawan finally chose to go ahead falls in a classic rom-com space reportedly, where the hero figure deals with his confusion-filled love life. Besides Dhawan, the primary cast of the film also reportedly has place for two heroines. The makers have not not reportedly cast any actress for either of the parts, however.
The film is produced by Ramesh Taurani under the banner of Tips production. Taurani and David Dhawan had collaborated on many movies in the 90s like Saajan Chale Sasural, Kunwara and Coolie no. 1. Besides the said untitled project, Ramesh Taurani is also producing the upcoming film Merry Christmas starring Vijay Sethupathi and Katrina Kaif, directed by Sriram Raghavan.
What's Varun Dhawan upto?
The film will reportedly kick off only after Varun Dhawan finishes work on his current project with Tamil hit filmmaker Atlee. The Dhawan-Atlee project is an actioner, tentatively titled as VD18, where the October actor co-stars with Keerthy Suresh and Wamiqa Gabbi. The VD18 makers are reportedly eyeing a release date of May 31 next year.

Meanwhile, Varun Dhawan hasn’t had a bona-fide success in some time now. His last film Bawaal, which released on Amazon Prime, drew mixed responses, with many netizens criticising the film for its insensitive depiction of Holocaust.
